Domus posted a nice review of the Walker Art Center Show Graphic Design: Now in Production, curated by Andrew Blauvelt, Ellen Lupton, Ian Albinson, Jeremy Leslie, Armin Vit, and Bryony Gomez-Palacio. The exhibit focuses on important graphic design work produced since the year 2000, and is the largest of its kind since the 1989 exhibition Graphic Design in America: A Visual Language History, at the Walker Art Center, and Cooper-Hewitt’s 1996 show Mixing Messages: Graphic Design in Contemporary Culture.

(And, sidenote, we adore the new Walker Art Center website.)

I'm in awe of these carpets by Märta Måås-Fjetterström, who founded Swedish weaving workshop MMF in 1919. She designed patterns for rugs and fabrics to be woven by local women at home (can we revisit this business model?). I first saw them in the Wright Auction House Scandinavian Design lots this morning. Many are still in production (alongside some wacky contemporary works) and available through MMF in Sweden.

Unmaking Things is a new site founded and run by MA students in the Royal College of Art/Victoria and Albert Museum History of Design Course. Using a "studio approach" for sharing and developing ideas around the history and theory of objects, writers explore topics "from product design to critical theory; from the history of decorative arts to analysis of space."

Disegno, a new UK-based design magazine and website, have posted a short article this morning by ODL Studio member Tim Parsons, entitled The Legacy of Memphis. Published on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the first Memphis collection at Milan's Arc' 74 gallery, the piece discusses the movement's founding ideas, lack of commercial success, vast influence, mythology, and critical perceptions.

Alber Elbaz, creative director of fashion label Lanvin, shares his recipe for crab croquettes, idiosyncratically shaped like, what else, bow ties. Love the photograph, also.

Absolutely loving Chen Chen's Metamorphic Rock Bookends, made from cement and "various materials." These are on sale now at Karma in New York.

Loving these milk glasses found by Chris Roeleveld over at foodcrypt, commissioned by Ritzenhoff from 1992 onwards, though the newer ones maybe have too many cartoon cows?

On June 23rd, the Royal College of Art will broadcast live from its Communications Art and Design graduation show, "expanding the show beyond the boundaries of the college." Watch if-not-now.tv 24 hours a day through July 3rd. Schedule is coming soon, check on it here, or follow them on twitter for updates.

A nice video from Victor Hunt Gallery, about Maarten De Ceulaer's Balloon Bowls. Tried to play this at Milan Redux during the Factory-Free talk, but was thwarted, so watch it now!

ODL affiliate Tim Parsons, designer, writer and lecture at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, was interviewed by obsessionistas.co.uk about his collection of 50 coat hangers.
